Thuy's Presentations
Preserving history and promoting cultural diversity
Teaching and exposing people to other ethnic groups is one of the best things we can do to promote inter-cultural knowledge & understanding.
It is our intention to focus more on who Vietnam is today through our presentations, but we also cover the war and feel it is important to share personal experience & stories.
When asking youth or some adults about Vietnam, many know nothing about the country, people, or the culture. If they have heard of Vietnam, most commonly their knowledge relates to the war. There is a need to share information about the Vietnamese people, culture, and country. No country and it's people want to be defined as war.
What We Speak About
Who are the Amerasians, Vietnamese culture, Vietnam today, Vietnam Veterans, Cambodia, and our outreach work with the opportunity for a hands on learning service project connecting our youth to their greater world.
Thuy also shares her story of what it was like growing up an Amerasian, discrimination, and the struggle of finding her identity & place in the world. She offers a message of hope & inspiration of how a person can turn their negatives into positives; how one person can really make a difference.
